What's the difference between an albino and a caramel albino? A traditional albino (amelanistic albino) lacks all black and brown (aka melanin). A caramel albino (xanthic albino) also lacks dark pigment, however an amino acid known as tyrosinase is present that allows other darkish pigments to be present. A yellow and white snake with pink eyes is known as a tyrosinase negative albino, whereas an animal whose black is replaced with a shade of lavender, and whose browns are replaced by a hybrid of yellow and orange is known as a tyrosinase positive albino. This combination of colors really makes the snake look like it's been dipped in caramel, hence the name. There are at least two different non-compatible lines of caramel albinos that I know of. I currently work with NERD and Sutherland (Snake Keeper) het caramels. As soon as I know which lines are and are not compatible, I will update this text. Caramels are quite striking in person and will undoubtedly hold their value for some time to come. The crosses with this gene have just begun!

Existing Designer Morphs: Caramel Pastel Jungle (Homozygous Caramel and Co-Dominant Pastel), Caramel Glow (Homozygous Caramel and Ghost), Caramel Pinstripe (Homozygous Caramel and Co-Dominant Pinstripe).
